Site measurement and quoting is set to become easier for Australian tradies with the launch of a new Augmented Reality (AR) app.
Measure and Quote AR is the first AR-driven constructing estimation tool that unites measuring, supplies calculation and quote production within a single app. The work of Australian Independent Lining Distributors (AILD) Managing Director Michael Reid, Measure and Quote launches today.
The app uses a smartphone's cameras to measure floors, ceilings and walls and calculate the quality of materials required for the work. It can even detect cornice and skirting measurements. Users can also subtract elements of the space such as windows and doors to receive accurate measurements thanks to the tool's innovative 'cut' feature.
Featuring an intuitive user interface, the app offers the ability to enable helper windows that guide users through the process, making the process easy no matter your level of technical literacy.
Once site measurement is complete, the app calculates the materials needed and sends the details directly to your supplier as a pre-formatted quote request. Plaster, paint, cornices, skirting and insulation can all be ordered directly through the app.
"Time is money," says Reid, who is an app developer with 25 years' experience in the construction industry.
"Measuring using the traditional method takes an average of 45 minutes on-site, plus all the time spent back at the office calculating and generating the quote. Measure and Quote AR shaves that time down to just a few minutes. No more awkward tape measures, fiddling with pencil and paper or getting your calculations wrong."
